Tips for Responsible Gaming

💰

Set a Budget

Decide how much you can afford to spend before you start playing and stick to it. Never gamble with money needed for essentials.

Set Time Limits

Decide in advance how long you'll play and take regular breaks. Don't let gambling interfere with other responsibilities.

🚫

Don't Chase Losses

Accept losses as part of the game. Trying to win back money you've lost often leads to bigger losses.

🎯

Keep It Fun

Gambling should be entertainment, not a way to make money or solve financial problems. If it stops being fun, stop playing.

🤝

Balance Your Life

Maintain other interests and activities. Don't let gambling become your only source of entertainment or social interaction.

🍺

Avoid Gambling Under Influence

Don't gamble when you're upset, depressed, or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. These impair judgment.

Self-Exclusion Program

If you feel you need to take a break from gambling, Ontario offers a voluntary self-exclusion program. This allows you to ban yourself from all gaming facilities in Ontario for a period of your choosing (6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, or lifetime).

To self-exclude:

  • Visit any Ontario gaming facility in person with valid ID
  • Complete the self-exclusion agreement
  • Your photo and information will be shared with all Ontario gaming facilities
  • You will be denied entry if you attempt to enter during your exclusion period
